Fall prevention through physical activity and sport for all
ReSanté-Vous
Summary:
This symposium aims to explore how physical activity and sport (PAS) are essential tools for fall prevention at all ages. Given that falls represent a major public health issue, particularly among older adults, regular participation in adapted activities helps strengthen balance, coordination, self-confidence, and independence. The central theme is to demonstrate that sport, including esports, can be accessible, inclusive, and foster social connections when it promotes intergenerational dynamics. The approach will combine scientific perspectives, feedback from healthcare and social service facilities, and innovative local initiatives. Target audiences include healthcare and social service professionals, health-related sport stakeholders, researchers, healthcare institutions, local authorities, and educational organizations. The integration of theory and practice will provide concrete examples of the benefits of physical activity in preventing falls and promoting the active participation of seniors.
